More than 100 "furry mammals" of the human variety will be seeing their shadows in Southern New Jersey this weekend, as the Jersey Surf equipment truck breaks out of its snowy fortress of solitude and delivers its frigid payload to patient corps members... as they wait to convene the February rehearsal weekend at the Camden County Technical School on Cross Keys Road in Berlin from Friday evening, 2/12 through Valentine's Day, Sunday, 2/14.
Unlike their Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania counterpart, however, the shadows cast by the brass musicians and percussionists this weekend will signal the IMMEDIATE (and much needed) START to the Summer Season!
According to Corps Business Manager Marty Fricke, "We've had to call in some heavy equipment to clear the thousands of cubic feet of drifting snow which currently stands between our transportation fleet and the open highway. We're fortunate to have a huge team of volunteers with many tricks up their sleeves... and many contacts in their phone books. By tomorrow afternoon, we'll have a path cleared at our storage facility to get all of our gear to the school in time for things to thaw out for a great February camp weekend."
The musical ensemble will continue work on its 2010 competitive repertoire, and will conclude the weekend with a free "show and tell" performance on Sunday at 2PM in the school's gymnasium. Membership opportunities are available in all sections, including brass, percussion, color guard and volunteers.
Take a break from shoveling at stop by for a heart-warming breath of warm summer fun this weekend at the Camden County Technical School!
