Alison Baier, Shaquille Millington and Stephanie Broadbelt will lead 2010 Jersey Surf Drum and Bugle Corps in “Living the Dream”

Taking to the podium for her final tour in a Jersey Surf
uniform, Ms. Alison Baier will complete
her junior drum corps career as the lead drum major for the 2010 season. This
will be her third year as a drum major and her fifth in the Surf overall,
having been a part of the brass section previously.
A 2007 graduate of Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School, Alison
is in her junior year of studies at Rutgers, The State University of New
Jersey, majoring in History. She is a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority, and
is proud of her involvement with the Rutgers Dance Marathon, a 32-hour,
student-run philanthropic event to raise money and increase awareness for the
Embrace Kids Foundation, a non-profiit organization benefiting the non-medical
needs of children with cancer and blood disorders.
Alison recently completed a semester abroad, studying in
Ireland. After graduating from Rutgers, Alison plans to teach Social Studies at
the high school level.
Joining Alison on the podium for the first time will be
Assistant Drum Major Mr. Shaquille Millington.
Marking his fourth season as a member of the corps after three years as a
member of the brass section, Shaquille will be graduating this year from
Florence Township High School where he has served as Baritone Section Leader,
Drum Major, treasurer of the National Honor Society, captain of the Renaissance
Society and was a member of the Florence High School Choir Executive Board in
addition to participating in school musicals.
Away from performance fields and the theater stage,
Shaquille is also active in a number of organizations which include the Model
United National, Science League, Future Teachers, and the Music Association. He
plans to pursue a collegiate course of study in Music Education with the goal
of eventually teaching music at the collegiate level. His hobbies include music
composition, writing, reading, playing clarinet and piano and drawing.
Working in tandem with the drum majors, Ms. Stephanie
Broadbelt will again serve the Jersey Surf
in the capacity of Color Guard Captain. The 2010 tour will be Steph’s second
tour of duty in this leadership role, and her fifth season as a member of the
Jersey Surf organization.
Stephanie is a 2007 graduate of Springfield High School in
Springfield, PA. She currently attends West Chester University where she is
pursuing a course of study in Communication Studies with a minor in Computer
Science. She is also the captain of the Incomparable Golden Rams Marching Band
at WCU, and is a member of the perennial WGI finalist Black Watch Independent World Class
Color Guard of Mt. Laurel, NJ.
Off the field and floor, Steph is a member of Tau Beta Sigma
and teaches color guard at several area high schools. She also enjoys reading,
baking and drinking coffee.
